Abstract
⺠Cell-free protein synthesis based on E. coli is limited by mRNA secondary structures. ⺠RNA chaperones and helicases cannot increase yields in E. coli cell-free systems. ⺠A miRNA hybridizing with the 5ⲠUTR of mRNAs enhances translation. ⺠miRNAs might provide a general mechanism to increase yields in cell-free systems.
