Abstract
⺠We model hemorrhagic stroke in vitro on olfactory cortex slices of hypertensive rats. ⺠We use electrophysiologic recordings to analyze basal glutamatergic and GABABergic synaptic transmission. ⺠Autoblood blocks synaptic transmission in neurons of brain slices. ⺠l-carnosine pretreatment of slices may rescue the mechanisms of synaptic plasticity being inhibited by autoblood exposure. ⺠l-carnosine attenuates edema in olfactory cortex by improving function of glutamate receptors.
