Abstract
âºSerum salusin-α levels are increased in RA and BD, although they have increased carotid atherosclerosis. âºIt seems that salusin-α does not directly affect the atherogenesis in RA and BD, in our study, whereas salusin-α has been reported to have anti-atherogenic effects in previous studies. âºComplexity of the pathogenesis of accelerated atherosclerosis remains to conceive, and further studies are needed to determinate the possible contribution of salusins to atherosclerosis in these inflammatory disorders. âºIncreased levels of salusin-α, which may be expressed by inflammatory cells, may suggest its possible pathogenic roles in these inflammatory disorders.
