Abstract
⺠Twelve SNPs of the HSD11B1 gene were genotyped in healthy and postmenopausal women. ⺠The rs4844880 showed a significant association with higher bone mineral density. ⺠Decreased luciferase activity for the polymorphic rs4844880 allele was demonstrated. ⺠The rs4844880 of the HSD11B1 gene may exert a beneficial effect on bone.
