Abstract
⺠Two major C27 bile acids are isolated from the lizards of Varanid family. ⺠Naturally occurring (24R,25S)-varanic acid is reported for the first time. ⺠The other component is assigned to the (24R,25R)-epimer. ⺠Their structures are determined by LC-MS, 2D-NMR, and HPLC. ⺠The result presents an interesting challenge of bile acid biosynthesis.
