Abstract
Many types of silver dressings are marketed in France, and they all differ in their support (hydrocolloidal, hydrocellular, alginate, carbon…), in the physical and chemical nature of their silver content (silver ion, silver sulfadiazine or silver coated), in their silver concentration content and release, in their kinetic of silver release, and in their antimicrobial properties. In addition, their efficiency and safety are still not proved: on the Pubmed Database, the available studies don't allow conclusions to be drawn because of the presence of bias. Report cases of toxicity and bacterial resistances have been described. Those observations incite us to be prudent when delivering silver dressings.
