Abstract
The aims of the study are to decrease activated drotrecogin alpha wastes, to make manufacturing safe and to optimize duration of infusion. Only total amounts from the 20 mg and 5 mg vials are used, after having been selected starting from the analysis of a data base establishing the quantities managed for each weight and hour of infusion. A gravimetric method makes it possible to optimize the duration of infusion, by controlling the volume of infusion. A software was developed for preparation's management, providing to the manipulators for each weight the characteristics of manufacture and infusion. For a complete treatment, 62 % of the weights allow a saving in 237.5 to 1,187 euros per treated patient and can reach 4,275 € if there's a stop without starting again before the 20 last hours of treatment. This method allows savings for more than 60 % of the patients. The manufacture, simplified by the use of total amounts, makes it possible to better control the errors of amounts and the septic risk during the manufactures.
