Abstract
Our study showed that 65% of the drugs administered differed from the drugs prescribed. The principal discrepancies found concerned prescription errors (86%). The SRNs detected these errors (85%) but did not leave a trace of their decision (3%) in the computer system. In most cases, the potential clinical impact for the patient was zero (75%). Some errors had a very significant clinical impact (4%) or were life-threatening (6%) and thus required the rapid implementation of measures to improve the system.
