Abstract
Automated dispensing system of unpacked dry forms are the most widely used in France. Among facilities equipped with this automated dispensing system, none of them only supports medicine/surgery/obstetrics wards. No health care facility only supports the activities of elderly dependent persons/long term care activities or psychiatry with over-packaging automated dispensing system. We selected eight selection criteria for technology automated dispensing system: cost, dosage forms, returns management, management of tablets fractions or bulk tablets, mode of production, personnel involved, necessary surface area, and finally the type of activity. We constructed a decision tree prioritizing criteria based on responses from 60 pharmacists interviewed. This work has led to an inventory of the existing situation on the various available technologies, their uses, and provide methodological support for the choice of an automated dispensing system.
