Abstract
► S. saprophyticus can be successfully identified in urinary tract infections using a set of simple biochemical tests. ► Novobiocin susceptibility distinguishes S. saprophyticus from other species isolated from urinary tract infections. ► This study confirms that automated systems are still not capable of correctly differentiating CoNS species.
