Abstract
This article describes the development of the term and concept “samosoznaiushchaia dusha” in Belyiʼs work. The main aspect of “samosoznaiushchaia dusha” concerns the connection between soul and spirit. Belyiʼs notion, on the one hand, develops Rudolf Steinerʼs doctrine of the Consciousness Soul, rooted in Aristotelian philosophy. On the other hand, Belyi finds a new way to define the relationship of soul and spirit by using his Symbolist method of “Mono-Duo-Pluralism”. This combines the anthroposophical doctrine of soul with theory of knowledge, developed on the basis of Goethe by the young Steiner in his philosophical work.
