Abstract
One innovative heat-transfer enhancement tube-vortex-shaped tube is developed with the aid of roughing surface. And the geometrical model of the vortex-shaped tube, for the first time, is built by modeling the fabrication process based on the structural mechanics. 3D numerical simulations are performed to investigate the heat transfer and flow characteristics of the vortex-shaped tube over the Re range of 4000-32,500. Firstly, the thermal-hydraulic performance of one vortex-shaped tube is identified. It is found that the performance is more remarkable at the low Re. Furthermore, the effects of the vortex geometrical parameters on not only the heat transfer and flow characteristics but also the flow and thermal field distributions are analyzed in detailed. The thermal-hydraulic performance is further improved and the corresponding geometrical parameter set is found. Finally, the field synergy principle is adopted to elucidate the mechanism of the heat transfer enhancement inside the vortex tube.
