Nuevos usos del patrimonio arqueológico de el tajín, a través de los procesos de turistificación, mercantilización y espectacularización

ResumenEn la actualidad, el patrimonio arqueológico se encuentra atravesado por diversos procesos que lo han llevado gradualmente a transformarse en un recurso administrable, lo que conlleva analizar los nuevos usos y significados que obtiene en términos de rentabilidad y comercialización. Se señala que también experimenta un acelerado proceso de turistificación, mercantilización y espectacularización, adquiriendo con ello nuevos sentidos y usos. En consideración de lo anterior, el objetivo principal de este trabajo es mostrar mediante el análisis etnográfico los nuevos usos y significados que adquiere el patrimonio arqueológico de El Tajín, ubicado en el municipio de Papantla, Veracruz, México, en el contexto del turismo. Se concluye que estos procesos no sólo han impactado el complejo arqueológico referido, sino también a la población local que vive a su alrededor.

Nowadays, the archaeological heritage is faced with a wide range of processes that have gradually transformed it into a profitable resource. It is pointed out that the accelerated touristification, commodification and spectacle have driven the archaeological heritage to acquire new meanings and uses. In consideration of the above, the aim of this paper is to discuss, through ethnographic analysis, the new uses and meanings of the archaeological heritage of El Tajin, located in Papantla, Veracruz, Mexico, where a complex intensification of tourism transforms relationships. In conclusion it can be said that these processes, have impacted the archaeological heritage, but also it has reached to local communities.
