Abstract
⺠Paper develops perturbation theory for ion motion in quadrupole RF fields. ⺠First order perturbations for ion coordinated over single RF cycle are obtained. ⺠Stability parameter of the perturbed motion is defined. ⺠Boundaries of stability and resolving power of mass filter are defined analytically.
