Abstract

•There are numerous N- and C-coordinated coordination modes of 1,2,3-triazole ligands.•The N3 coordination mode of 1,2,3-triazoles shows multiple catalytic activities.•Deprotonated C- or N-bonded triazole complexes show excellent catalytic properties.•1,2,3-Triazole complexes compare with imidazole and imidazolium ones in catalysis.•1,2,3-Triazole ligands combined with “biometals” largely provide “green” catalysis.

A short overview of the multiple coordination modes of 1,2,3-triazole- and related transition-metal complexes are provided, then the implication of and catalysis with transition-metal-1,2,3-triazole complexes are detailed with Mn, Fe, Ni, Cu, Ru, Rh, Ir, Pd, and Au catalysts including various ligand coordination modes and mechanistic features.
