Abstract
The origin of oxygen atoms in oxido-bridged cubo-octahedral hexanuclear rhenium clusters [Re6(μ-O)12L6]+ (L – aromatic amine) has been investigated thoroughly. We confirmed that water is a crucial agent in the creation of the Re6(μ-O)12 core. The reaction of ReI3 with H218O and 3-methylpyridine was carried out resulting in the formation of [Re6(μ-18O)12(3-Mepy)6]I complex.
Graphical abstractThe essential role of water as a deliverer of oxygen in the formation of hexanuclear oxidocomplexes of the general formula [Re6(μ-O)12L6]+ (aromatic amine (L)) has been proved.Figure optionsDownload full-size imageDownload as PowerPoint slide
