A copper(II)–Schiff-base complex, [Cu4(O)(L)2(CH3COO)4] (1) where HL = 4-methyl-2,6-bis(((2-tri-fluoromethyl)phenyl)methyliminomethyl)phenol, has been prepared. It has been characterized by elemental analysis, different spectroscopic methods and single crystal X-ray diffraction study. Single crystal analysis of 1 reveals that four copper atoms coordinate with one oxygen atom forming a distorted tetrahedron in which the oxygen atom occupies the center and copper atoms reside in the corners. The temperature dependent magnetic property of complex 1 shows strong antiferromagnetic interactions between the copper atoms.
