Abstract
The synthesis and the single-crystal X-ray structural characterization of two novel complexes of molybdenum with 2,3- and 2,5-dihydroxybenzoic acids are reported. The tetranuclear complex with 2,3-DHBA has two μ3-OCH3 bridges and intramolecular hydrogen bonding of the carboxylic group. The unusual trinuclear complex with 2,5-DHBA demonstrates a unique binding mode of the ligand. The spectroscopic properties in solid state and in solution have been studied and interpreted.
