Abstract

Synthesizing one- and two-dimensional arrays of trinuclear chromium(III) basic carboxylate complexes could give rise to new materials with interesting magnetic properties. Trinuclear chromium(III) basic carboxylate complexes where a substituted pyridine ligand could be used to link the trinuclear complexes together could serve as avenue to the synthesis of such arrays. Toward this end, the syntheses, crystal structures, and properties of [Cr3O(propionate)6(4-aminopyridine)3]+ and [Cr3O(propionate)6(3-aminopyridine)3]+ are presented.
