In the present work, new polynuclear complexes with nuclearities ranging from Ni3 to Ni10, have been obtained by reaction of a variety of nickel salts and dapdoH2 ligand, (dapdoH2 = 2,6-diacetylpyridine dioxime). Depending on the precursors and reaction conditions the compounds with formula [Ni3(3-Cl-BzO)(dapdo)(dapdoH)OH(dapdoH2)](3-Cl-BzO) (1), (Et2NH2)6[Ni8(dapdoH)4(SO4)9(H2O)2] (2) and (Et3NH)2[Ni10(dapdo)8(MeOH)4](BF4)6 (3) were achieved and structurally characterized. The octanuclear compound 2 provides an unprecedented sulfato cluster with a new topology and connectivity. Dc magnetic measurements were carried out in the 2–300 K range revealing antiferromagnetic interactions for all compounds.
Graphical abstractNi3, Ni8 and Ni10 clusters have been characterized from reaction of carboxylato, sulfate and non-coordinating BF4− nickel salts with dapdoH2 ligand, (dapdoH2 = 2,6-diacetylpyridine dioxime). The new systems have been structurally and magnetically characterized.Figure optionsDownload full-size imageDownload as PowerPoint slide
