Abstract

A three-dimensional (3D) bimetallic oxide compound, [CuMo3O10]·H2O (1), was synthesized under hydrothermal conditions and characterized by single crystal X-ray diffraction, powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD), FT-IR and atomic absorption spectroscopy. Nanoparticles of compound 1 were also prepared by a sonochemical process and characterized by means of scanning electron microscopy (SEM), PXRD and FT-IR analyses. The catalytic activity of 1 and its nanoparticles has been investigated in the catalytic wet air oxidation (CWAO) of Bismarck brown as a typical diazo dye. It was found that the prepared compounds are active and stable heterogeneous catalysts under the reaction conditions and can be easily recovered and reused for at least five cycles.
