Abstract
Cadmium(II) complexes with hydrazone type ligands, derivatives of 2-acetylpyridine and 2,6-diacetylpyridine, have been prepared and characterized by elemental analysis, IR, NMR spectroscopic methods and X-ray crystallography. In the crystal structure of the dinuclear complex 1 with a bidentately coordinated monohydrazone ligand, the central cadmium atom is in an octahedral arrangement. In the mononuclear complex 2, the geometry is square-pyramidal with a tridentately coordinated ligand. The biological activities of the complexes (antimicrobial activities and a toxicity test to Artemia salina) were evaluated.
