Abstract
Number, stoichiometry and stability constants of the complexes formed in aqueous (Na)Cl 0.6 m solution by 2-hydroxy-3-carboxy-dihydrocinnamic acid with Al(III) and Fe(III) were obtained at 25 °C by potentiometric titrations, UV-Vis and NMR measurements. Most of the Al(III) and Fe(III) species are either bidentate or mixed ligand-hydroxo complexes. The tridentate chelation is displayed in the AlL species. Molecular modeling confirmed experimental results.
