Abstract
Single crystal X-ray structures of five different complexes formed by the 4- and 5-bromo substituted derivatives of 2-(hydroxymethyl)pyridine with copper(II) nitrate trihydrate, copper(II) chloride dihydrate and cobalt(II) chloride hexahydrate are discussed in comparison with complexes of the bromine free parent ligand, showing how the bromine substitution affects the coordination geometry and packing mode in the crystal lattice.
