Abstract

Zn(II), Cu(II), Ni(II), Co(II), Fe(II) and Mn(II) dinuclear complexes of the bisbidente N4-donor, N,N′-bis(2-tosylamino-benzylidene)-4,4′-oxodianiline (H2ODTs), have been prepared and characterised. FAB mass spectroscopy evidences through the isotopic profiles of [M2(ODTs)2]+ species, the dimeric nature of these metal compounds. Magnetic studies for Co2(ODTs)2 · 4H2O show that the thermal evolution of 1/χM obeys Curie–Weiss law and that both the values of χMT and the shape of the curve, are typical for almost isolated CoII ions.
