The synthesis, spectroscopic and chromatographic characterization, and X-ray crystal structure of the complex tris(2-methoxyisobutylisocyano) copper(I) tetrafluoroborate, [Cu(MIBI)3][BF4], is reported. The Cu atom lies on threefold axis and is bonded to three 2-methoxyisobutylisocyano ligands in a perfect trigonal-planar coordination. The calculated and experimental powder-diffraction spectra of this complex are also reported.
Graphical abstractThe trigonal-planar complex tris(2-methoxyisobutylisocyano) copper(I) tetrafluoroborate, [Cu(MIBI)3][BF4] has been prepared and its spectroscopic and chromatographic properties determined. Full solid-state characterization has been carried out through X-ray crystallography and X-ray powder-diffraction spectra. This compound may have relevance for nuclear medicine applications where the tetrahedral Cu(I) complex, [Cu(MIBI)4]+, is currently used for the preparation of the commercial cardiac imaging agent 99mTc-MIBI (Cardiolite®).Figure optionsDownload full-size imageDownload as PowerPoint slide
