Abstract
Carbamoyferrocene (1) and ferrocenecarbonylhydrazide (2) were studied by spectroscopic methods and by X-ray crystallography. Amide 1 was shown to form various supramolecular assemblies via N-Hâ¯O/N hydrogen bonds and supporting interactions (Ïâ¯Ï stacking). The thermolysis of 1 under relatively mild conditions in the presence of air gave practically pure microcrystalline hematite (α-Fe2O3).
