Abstract
The low donor character of the pentafluorobenzoate ligand permits to obtain paddlewheel complexes with both axial positions occupied: [Ru2Cl(DPhF)3(O2CC6F5)(OH2)] (1), [Ru2(DPhF)3(O2CC6F5)(OH2)2]SO3CF3 (2), and {[Ru2(DPhF)3(O2CC6F5)][Au(CN)2]} (3) (DPhFâ = N,Nâ²-diphenylformamidinate). The magnetic properties of 1 are consistent with the configuration Ï2Ï4δ2(Ï*δ*)3. In 2, a transition from high spin (S = 3/2) to low spin (S = 1/2) configuration is observed.
