Abstract

Spin susceptibility of S = 1/2 one-dimensional antiferromagnetic Heisenberg chain [Cu(OH)(NO3)(pydz)]H2O (pydz = pyridazine), which was difficult to be estimated from magnetic susceptibility measurements, was determined by measuring the temperature dependence of solid-state high-resolution 13C MAS (magic angle spinning) NMR and by performing theoretical calculation. From fitting to theoretical formula for S = 1/2 one-dimensional chain model, one-dimensional intrachain exchange interaction J/kB was estimated at 590–695 K (Hamiltonian = J∑Si·SjJ∑Si·Sj). We also evaluated that the ratio kBTNJ, which expresses a degree of one-dimensionality, is less than 3.4 × 10−3. This result indicates that [Cu(pydz)(OH)(NO3)]H2O has high one-dimensionality.

Graphical abstractSpin susceptibility of S = 1/2 one-dimensional antiferromagnetic Heisenberg chain [Cu(OH)(NO3)(pydz)]H2O (pydz = pyridazine), was studied with solid-state 13C MAS NMR measurement. We determined that one-dimensional intrachain exchange interaction is very large, J/kB is 590–695 K, and a measure of one-dimensionality kBTNJ is less than 3.4 × 10−3. This result indicates that this compound has very high one-dimensionality.Figure optionsDownload full-size imageDownload as PowerPoint slide
