Mixed-valence pentanuclear manganese complex, [{MnIIMnIII(fsatren)}2MnII(H2O)4] · n (sol) ([Mn3IIMn2III], H6fsatren = tris[(2-hydroxy-3-carboxybenzylidene)aminoethyl]amine, sol = H2O or MeOH), and hexanuclear cobalt complex, [Co4IICo2III(fsaea)2(OMe)4(NO3)2(OAc)2(MeOH)2] ([Co4IICo2III], H3fsaea = 3-[N -(2-hydroxyethyl)formimidoyl]-salicylaldehyde) were prepared and their magnetic properties were studied. [Mn3IIMn2III] has a linear tetranuclear core, whereas [Co4IICo2III] has a face shared incomplete tetra cubane core.
