Diphenyl substituted cyclopentadienyl titanium trichloride derivatives: Synthesis, crystal structure and properties as catalysts for styrene polymerization

1,2-Diphenyl-4-R-1,3-cyclopentadienyl titanium trichloride (R = Me (4), n-Bu(5), Ph(6)) have been synthesized by modified literature procedures. The molecular structure of 4 was characterized by spectroscopy and X-ray crystallography. All of the complexes exhibit high catalytic activities and syndiospecificities for the polymerization of styrene in the presence of methylaluminoxane (MAO).
