Abstract
A disodium salt of (2-methoxycarbonylmethylimino-5-methyl-thiazol-3-yl)-acetic acid has been prepared from a thiamine derivative. This salt forms mononuclear or polynuclear complexes with nickel(II), copper(II) and zinc(II). In the mononuclear complex the dicarboxylate acts as a tridentate ligand, whereas in the polynuclear complex it acts as a tetradentate ligand.
