Abstract
New coordination polymers based by copper(II) benzoate and pyridinecarboxylate compounds with bridged by 3-pyridylmethanol, [CuX2(3PM)2]n (where X = 2-methyltionicotinate (2-MeSnic) or 2-chlorobenzooate (2-Clbz) and [Cu3(2-Clnic)6(μ-3PM)4 (3PM)2]n (2-Clnic = 2-chloronicotinate) have been prepared and spectroscopic studied. Both the [CuX2(3PM)2]n compounds seem to possess octahedral copper(II) stereochemistry with differing tetragonal distortions. The copper(II) atoms of [Cu3(2-Clnic)6(μ-3PM)4(3PM)2]n are tetragonal bipyramidal and tetragonal pyramidal.
