The synthesis and characterization of uranyl 1,3-diphenylpropane-1,3-dionato (benzoylacetonate, ba) complexes with N-adamantylacetamide, 2-azacyclononanone and triphenylphosphine oxide, with general formula UO2(ba)2L are described. They were characterized by infrared, Raman and emission spectroscopies. All complexes are luminescent, presenting the characteristic uranyl vibronic spectrum. The crystal structures of the N-adamantylacetamide and 2-azacyclononanone were determined. All complexes are heptacoordinated and all neutral ligands bond through an oxygen atom. In the case of the N-adamantylacetamide complex there are two independent molecules in the asymmetric unit cell. Both structures are reported.
