Abstract

Using cyclohexene as the probe substrate, the metalloporphyrin catalyzed efficient dioxygen activation in presence of solid inorganic phosphates and small quantities of t-butyl hydroperoxide under mild condition have been demonstrated. Among the phosphates K3PO4 and K2HPO4 are found to be very effective and the turnover frequency for cyclohexene oxidation has been above 400 per min. Possible oxygenation of cyclohexane and cyclooctene along this route has also been presented.

Graphical abstractThe definitive role of several inorganic phosphates in the oxygenation of cyclohexene has been established where several iron(III) and manganese(III) porphyrins are used as a catalyst. Presence of t-BuOOH in the medium enhances the process further.Figure optionsDownload full-size imageDownload as PowerPoint slide
