Abstract
A series of five Cu(II) complexes of 2-benzoylpyridine N(4)-phenyl thiosemicarbazone (HL) with a general formula [CuLX], except the perchlorate complex were prepared. The complexes were characterized by means of spectroscopic methods. The antimicrobial studies shows that the copper complexes were active against Vibrio cholerae O1 and Salmonella paratyphi. Single crystal XRD studies revealed the chloro complex to be a chlorine bridged dimer and the thiocyanato complex with a distorted square planar geometry.
