Abstract
Reaction of [AuCl(SMe2)] with 2- or 4-pyridinethiol gave the corresponding complex [AuCl(2- or 4-pyridinethiol)], in which the ligand is S-bonded to gold in the pyridiniumthione tautomeric form, and the reaction of [AuCl(SMe2)] with the 2- or 4-pyridinethiolate ion gave the corresponding insoluble oligomeric or polymeric [{Au(2- or 4-pyridinethiolate)}n]. The structure of [AuCl(pyridinium-2-thione)] has been determined crystallographically; there is evidence for intermolecular association through weak attractive Au ⯠Au and NH ⯠Cl interactions.
