Abstract
Novel Cu(II) complex prepared from nicotinamide and itaconic acid is formulated as [Cu(C5H4O4)2(C6H6N2O)2(H2O)2·2(H2O)] (1). The compound was characterized by elemental analysis, spectroscopic techniques and single crystal X-ray diffraction. Single crystal X-ray revealed that the compound crystallized in triclinic P-1 space group and the molecules are linked via extensive hydrogen bonding interactions forming propagating chains along the c-axis generating a two dimensional network sheet. The antimicrobial study of the synthesized complex was investigated.140
