Abstract
► A new 1D silver(I) coordination polymer has been obtained by reaction between indol-3-butyric acid and AgNO3 under classical conditions in aqueous ammonia solution. ► The synthesized silver(I) coordination polymer was structurally characterized by elemental analysis, infrared spectroscopy (IR) and single crystal X-ray diffraction. ► The 1D polymeric chains are further assembled by hydrogen bond (NH⋯O), Ag⋯C, Ag⋯π, CH⋯π and weak π⋯π interactions into a 3D supramolecular network. ► The spontaneous formation of the 1D assembly was investigated by applying the Natural Bond Orbital analysis (NBO).
