Abstract
A neutral chiral diamond-like 3D zinc(II) coordination network with sulfasalazine, [Zn(H2-Sulf)μ-OH]n (H3-Sulf = sulfasalazine) (1), was synthesized by the hydrothermal reaction of sulfasalazine and Zn(OAc)2·H2O or Zn(OH)2. X-ray diffraction study shows that 1 crystallizes in the orthorhombic system, P212121 space group, a = 5.2730(5), b = 17.8473(17), c = 20.319(2) Ã
, VÂ =Â 1912.2(3)Â Ã
3, Z = 4, Dc = 1.660 g â3. In 1, the Zn centers are linked by inequivalent ligand bridges, OHâ and deprotonated sulfasalazine. Individual crystals are chiral however the product consists of a racemic mixture of crystals.
