Abstract
The reaction between K4[MoIV(CN)8]·2H2O and [Cu(L)](ClO4)2 (L=3,10-dipropyl-1,3,5,8,10,12-hexaazacyclotetradecane) gives a novel three-dimensional cyano-bridged coordination compound [Cu(L)]2[Mo(CN)8]·2.5H2O (1). The thermal and magnetic behaviors of compound 1 have been investigated. X-ray single-crystal structure determinations reveal that the MoIV centers in 1 adopt a distorted square antiprism geometry, while the CuII centers in 1 adopt an elongated octahedral geometry. Each MoIV coordinated via four cyano groups to four CuII. Variable-temperature magnetic susceptibility measurements reveal that there is negligible magnetic interaction between the CuII centers in compound 1.
