A new heterometallic compound, namely [CdCa(BPTC)(DMA)2(H2O)]n⋅n(DMA) (1 H4BPTC = biphenyl-3,3′,5,5′-tetracarboxylic acid, DMA = N,N′-dimethylacetamide), has been solvothermally synthesized by the reactions of Cd(NO3)2, Ca(NO3)2 and H4BPTC. Single crystal X-ray analysis reveals that compound 1 features a complicated 3D framework based on dinuclear [CdCa(COO)3] subunits, which can be simplified into a 4-connected PtS topological network. In addition, the luminescent properties of compound 1 were also investigated in the solid state at room temperature.
