Abstract
⺠Effects of positive charge on bond strength in molecules and metals are considered. ⺠Paradoxical results are obtained. ⺠Removing one electron stabilizes diatomic molecules except H2. ⺠One-electron bond in alkali metal molecule is stronger than two-electron. ⺠The same approach is applicable to bulk metals.
