Dinuclear (bis-β-diketonato)Ni(II) and Cu(II) coordination complexes [Ni2Py4L2]·3C6H6 (1) and [Cu2L2]·2DMF (2) (H2L = 3,7-di(3-phenyl-3-oxopropanoyl)10-ethylphenothiazine) have been prepared and characterized by elemental analysis, IR and single crystal X-ray diffraction determination. Complex 1 crystallizes in the triclinic space group P1¯. Complex 2 crystallizes in the monoclinic space group P21/c. Both dinuclear complex molecules form a 24-membered ring structure. Each Ni(II) centre adopts a pseudo octahedral geometry, while each copper(II) center has a square planar coordinated sphere. The results show that 1 and 2 exhibit different 3D supramolecular structures incorporating 1D columns. TGA shows that the two complexes exhibit high thermal stability. Complexes 1 and 2 exhibit moderately intense emissions at 549 and 597 nm, respectively.
