Abstract
The interaction of adsorbed probe molecules with Co2+ cations in exchange position were investigated in the skeletal transmission window region. The position of the band of oxygen ring perturbed by Co2+ provides information on the electron-acceptor properties of cation as well as the strength of interaction of cation with framework oxygens and with adsorbed molecules. The interaction of Co2+ with CO, NO, H2O, ammonia, acetylene, ethene, benzene and formaldehyde was investigated. The role of σ donation and π back donation in the interaction of CO and organic molecules was discussed.
