Abstract
A novel one-dimensional (1D) coordination polymer built from tetracobalt(II)-p-sulfonatothiacalix[4]arene cluster units was prepared and characterized. Single crystal X-ray diffraction analyses reveal that each cavity of p-sulfonatothiacalix[4]arene in the polymer captures a hydrated cobalt(II) cation. The magnetic studies in the 2-300Â K range show weak antiferromagnetic interactions between the four cobalt(II) centers.
