Abstract
A novel complex of α-isosparteine alkaloid with zinc(II) acetate has been synthesized and analyzed by X-ray diffraction, FT-IR, 1H and 13C NMR spectroscopies. The crystal structure reveals a four coordinated zinc center with two nitrogen atoms of the bidentate α-isosparteine ligand and two O atoms of the two acetate anions thus forming a slightly distorted ZnN2O2 tetrahedron. The acetate carbonyl groups are directed inwards, towards the Zn atom and in consequence, the O–Zn(II)–O bond angle is large and equals 126.92(8)°. The experimental evidence has been supported by DFT calculations.
