Abstract
Two new organically templated 3D cerium sulfates have been hydrothermally synthesized and structurally characterized by single crystal X-ray diffraction, powder X-ray diffraction, IR spectroscopy and thermo-gravimetric analysis. Both of them crystallize in the monoclinic space group P21/c. Crystal data for (C4H12N2)4[Ce8(SO4)16(H2O)8], 1, a=6.673(2) Ã
; b=9.5861(13) Ã
; c=22.518(3) Ã
; β=103.956(2)°, V=3492.8(8) Ã
3, Z=2, for (C2H10N2)2[Ce2(SO4)5(H2O)2], 2, a=6.6424(12) Ã
; b=17.071(3) Ã
; c=20.509(4) Ã
; β=94.814(3)°, V=2317.3(7) Ã
3, Z=4; The compound 1 exhibits a 3D anionic openframework structure compensated by diprotonated piperazine molecules occluded in the zigzag channels. The compound 2 possesses rectangle eight-membered channels and 16-membered channels, in which the ethylenediamine molecules reside.
