Abstract
A novel manganese(II) coordination polymer [Mn(bpy)2(μ2-S6)]n1 (bpy = 2,2â²-bipyridine) has been synthesized by low-temperature solid-state reaction. Single crystal X-ray analyses reveal that compound 1 possesses a new type of two-dimensional (2-D) framework structure. Each Mn(II) ion, located on an inversion center of distorted octahedron, is six-coordinated by four nitrogen atoms from the bpy ligands and two sulfur atoms from the μ2-S6 ligands. The compound 1 was characterized by elemental analyses, IR spectra and UV-visible spectra. The third-order non-linear optical (NLO) properties were also investigated and they exhibit nice non-linear absorption and self-defocussing performance with modulus of the hyperpolarizability (γ) 6.56 Ã 10â30 esu for 1 in a 2.5 Ã 10â4 mol dmâ3 DMF solution.
