Abstract
The diode laser absorption infrared spectrum of chlorobenzene has been recorded near 1500 cmâ1 by cooling the molecules in a supersonic pulsed jet. Spectral lines have been assigned to the 2ν10b overtone. Transitions of J between 34 and 73 have been recorded and the most intense ones assigned to the C6H535Cl isotope. The spectra show characteristic line groupings in the R branch. Analysis of the spectrum gives the vibrational band origin and rotational constants of the molecule in the ν10b = 2 state.
